I have always been fascinated with "Old Hollywood." I think of James Dean, Chateau Marmont, and the Hollywood Hills. When people aged gracefully, smoking didn't kill, and people had elegance. Even when I moved to Los Angeles in the early 2000's, Hollywood had obviously changed, but it still had a little sparkle. The nightlife was fun, the celebrity was high, and you could get famous simply by sleeping with Lindsay Lohan. These days, everything/everybody seems so pedestrian. Everyone is a little lackluster, dead-in-the-eyes and void of personality. I couldn't tell you who the newest "heartthrob" is, because nobody knows how they got famous. I can point them out though; I can spot a douche bag from a mile away... -And they stick out like a sore thumb with their horrible style and janky tattoos. Luckily, I had the opportunity to shoot with Bryan Octaviano, who was able to portray that vintage California look and feel we were going for: Palm Trees, Cigs, and In and Out. True Hollywood Californication.
