3am Thoughts

[copied from my Notes written at 3:57am]

If you think about it… Hollywood is the only bilateral population in the entire world divided by dual beliefs that it is either the city of dreams or the city of broken dreams… with no middle ground -and your stance on your coinciding belief is solely dependent on what hand you were dealt [during your time there].

Some people make it young, some people make it late, and some people will never make it at all. Risk vs reward. A forever constant in the rat race of chasing your dreams is there will always be people transplanting in, ready to take your spot… -no matter where in line you are at any specific time. You might get out of the metaphorical line right when your big break was about to happen. Your “right time, right place” moment could be any time or any place and maybe you were stuck in traffic and missed yours… or maybe it’s in 5 minutes. It’s like playing the lottery, if you play every day your odds of winning are greater than not playing at all… but you could also spend all your time and money and still lose…. But you could always win. You’d think with my addictive personality that I would take to gambling, but fortunately I rid myself of all my money with no aid of slot machines or scratchers.

I have a soft spot in my heart for chasing dreams and working hard for something you think you deserve. Kim Kardashian said she “doesn’t feel like anybody works anymore”… (I have worked in offices with Gen Z-ers and I can totally agree), but what I’ve experienced while living here, is when people are passionate about going after their dreams, well I’ve never saw people work harder …[just] to work… on a daily basis (in Hollywood) hoards of actors, models, musicians [etc] hustling…to work. Day after day, getting rejected, getting critiques from people far less talented than them, driving around aimlessly looking for some sketch casting, parking tickets, cattle calls, being “on hold”….all for ONE JOB! -And then you have to work! You have to work a 14+ hour day to get one paycheck (that you receive net 30- which seeing that rent is every 30 days, if you book something on the 15th you are fucked for rent that month and hopefully you have something else coming in). -That is admirable- ….Considering you could literally be a “greeter” at Walmart and only work for 8 hours a day, with an hour lunch break, get paid every other Friday, and have a stable income and discounts (?) LOL.

So do I think Hollywood is the city of dreams or the city of broken dreams? IDFK…More-so why do I even care, I don’t even live in Hollywood (📍West Hollywood)… I fell asleep watching Americas Next Top Model and now I can’t get back to sleep. This started with trying to caption this photo and has diarrhea’d into gambling, castings, Kim Kardashian, and financing…Wow the 3am mind is crazy. But Hollywood is trash however I would consider it a “city of dreams” because it houses the closest In-N-Out in proximity to my apt and that makes me happy. Thank you and good night.
